Power by name, Powerhouse by nature! John Power has been a tremendous advocate for the hotel and tourism industry in theis country in his capacity as CEO of the IHF. Ni bheidh a leithead ann aris is an apt statement as to his worth and his legacy. Whether you were a small hotelier or a large operator/owner, it mattered little, John gave freely of his time and valued advice in equal measure. Often returning calls early in the morning or well into the night – he never left a colleague stuck for a few words or a sympathetic ear. More importantly John holds an archive of history and precedent in his head that is encyclopediac – a virtual google of hotel lobbying!!. The breadth and scope of John’s contact base and lobbying skills was available to one and all and admired by civil servants as much as the hoteliers he represented. We certainly hope, as Eamonn states, that we will be seeing a lot of John in tourism circles going forward. The IHF has been priveleged to have such a pragmatic and statesman like figure at the helm for so long and he has earned a well deserved retirement.
Go mara tu an cead John and enjoy some down time!!

John Power – a thorough gentleman who enhanced our industry. It was always a pleasure to deal with John: facts and figures at his fingertips and straight talking. His presence will be missed not just by the hotel community but by the industry at large. Happy retirement John.
